TGI Fridays Launches a Food Truck
Thank goodness it’s stopping in Washington? By Anna Spiegel

Think the food truck movement is all about local entrepreneurship? Not exactly. TGI Fridays discovered stuff millenials like (mobile vending, summer) and launched a campaign to draw a youthful audience. The Summer of Fridays Road Tour, a national road trip for the chain’s food truck, kicked off in Minneapolis and lands in Washington on June 17.

If you like hands, crafts, and handcrafting, you’ll love the promotional website. What’s the tour all about? “The craft of handcrafting.” What will the truck serve? “Handcrafted goodness, which we’ll hand-deliver to you.” What kind of handcrafted goodness? “Handhelds” (i.e. sandwiches) for one, “handcrafted daily,” as well as Fridays staples like loaded potato skins, Jack Daniels steaks, millenial-friendly sharing foods such as Thai pork tacos, and drinks like peach sangria.

The campaign and celebration of local artisans (hand-crafters?) at each stop can be followed on the usual host of social media platforms. Should you decide to hit up the truck, it’s in Washington from June 17 to 22 and at the Safeway Barbecue Battle.
