Inside a Gorgeous .5 Million Colonial in Cleveland Park

Once known as the “Pink House” for its former bubblegum hue, this 101 year-old Cleveland Park Colonial was completely gutted and redone by GTM Architects and interior designer Darryl Carter. The end result: A gorgeous home that spotlights a refined, modern aesthetic that’s sleek, elegant, and warm, with contemporary organic touches and plenty of texture. Carter’s signature whites are offset by accents of rustic wood and dark-stained floors, plus architectural details that include French doors, decorative wall paneling, and built-in display shelving. Some of the home’s best features? The sliding screen in the dining room, a Zen-esque inset in the ceiling of the master bedroom, and the herringbone pattern on the wall of the family room and the floor in the contemporary master bath. The kitchen, by Heartwood Design, includes slick cabinetry, concealed appliances and a stone waterfall island; elsewhere, there’s a huge wine cellar, a light-flooded sunroom, a screened porch, a finished lower-level suite, and one of the most chicest minimalist recreation rooms we’ve seen.

3420 36th St. NW is listed at $6.5 million. Take a glimpse inside the five-bedroom, six-bath estate below, then go to Washington Fine Properties for more details.
