Trend Watch: You Need to Start Wearing Mules Right Now

Here’s nine pairs of the slide-on shoes for those ready to jump on this summer’s trend bandwagon.

If you’ve had your eyes on the ground in terms of shoe trends this spring, you’ll have started to spot a lot of bare heels. The slide-on, usually thick-heeled mules have made a resurgence this season, and we city dwellers are happy to welcome them back. After all, who doesn’t love a shoe that won’t get stuck in all of DC’s brick sidewalks and takes two seconds to swap with the flip-flops you wore on your walk to the train?

The trend definitively arrived in town when local blogger Meg Biram started raving about this nude pair from Vince. But when we say mules, make no mistake–erase any ideas of these or these and definitely these–and turn to Taylor Swift at the Elle Style Awards, where she wore a chic black pair, or Jennifer Lawrence who wisely wore a navy wedge version to the airport.
