Hello!
I’m Michelle, your new Shop Around editor, bravely exploring the vast e-tail universe and taking on outlandish trends, all in the name of a fashionable Washington. A recent DC replant, I’ve just returned to our fair city after a three-year stint living a block from the beach in Los Angeles—and while I can’t deny missing the endless sunshine and ocean breeze, I’m thrilled to be back. Even if I did have to trade my sunglasses and bikinis for earmuffs and umbrellas.
A quick rundown of quasi-important things to know about yours truly:
I’m a unabashed fragrance junkie (my perfume collection currently numbers 21 . . . and counting), a red lipstick devotee (holy grail: Nars Cruella), and a true believer in an all-or-nothing mantra when it comes to heels (4 inches or bust, baby). An unspecified but surprisingly large portion of my wardrobe was scored for a song on eBay. If I could, I would outfit my closet and my home entirely from the 14th Street boutiques Redeem and Showroom 1412. I harbor a major weakness for oversize cocktail rings, Helmut Lang, and anything glossy gold. Or studded. Or snakeskin.
When I’m not shopping, writing about shopping, or daydreaming about shopping, I like to try complicated new recipes, get lost in Wikipedia, watch embarrassing amounts of Bravo, and spoil my cat with way more treats than can possibly be healthy.
But most important: I am so happy to be here! It’s an exciting time for Washington’s ever-evolving style scene, and there is MUCH to talk about. What do you want to see in Shop Around?
