For months we’ve been dutifully and patiently (or perhaps not-so-patiently) tracking every inch of Nordstrom Rack’s progress—and now it finally opens in the huge 35,000-square-foot former Borders space at 18th and L streets tomorrow morning. A host of festivities are in the works, kicking off at 8 AM (an hour before the official opening) with breakfast treats and the store’s Rule the Rack sweepstakes, in which 30 shoppers will win a $100 gift card and one lucky winner will score a $1,000 shopping spree, plus exclusive early entry. The winning name will be drawn at 8:25. And finally: The first 1,000 customers to make a purchase will get a reusable shopping tote.
We got a sneak peek at the store yesterday, and, as expected, there are some major scores on the Rack’s racks. Among the finds we spotted: flirty green-and-white silk polka-dotted bow blouses from Kate Spade, mod cocktail rings from Trina Turk, sleek leather shifts from Theory, and playful pink-soled white oxfords from Cole Haan.
