Intimate Purple Wedding at Georgetown’s Malmaison

Adrienne Gutierrez and Jeff Bitter married on April 25, 2015.

Though these lovebirds may be somewhat new to Washington–most of their love story takes place in Chicago–that didn’t prevent Adrienne Gutierrez and Jeff Bitter from gathering some of the area’s best vendors for this impeccably planned, intimate wedding at Malmaison in Georgetown. The lovely spring blooms and Georgetown architecture was all captured with the happy couple by photography duo The Madious.

If Adrienne had known she was going to meet her soul mate that day, she might have worn some makeup. Instead, she was dressed in running clothes and going to spend 26 hours in a van filled with sweaty runners who were completing a 203 mile relay race between Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin. Her teammate Jeff didn’t mind her appearance, however, and the two went on several more runs the next week, followed by a date for tacos and margaritas. They bonded over a love of running by Lake Michigan, good wine, and Chicago’s foodie scene, and soon they were inseparable.

Seven months into their dating relationship, Jeff had moved to DC to start his dream job while Adrienne remained in Chicago. Neither was satisfied with the long distance situation, however, so Jeff decided to give Adrienne a good reason to join him in DC. While visiting Adrienne in Chicago, the two went for a run around Roosevelt Island that turned into a romatic stroll when Jeff paused to pop the question.

For their April 24, 2015 wedding, Adrienne and Jeff took advantage of the beautiful spring blooms and brick alleyways all over Georgetown. Adrienne’s father created an elegant chalkboard sign to welcome guests to the wedding, and their small ceremony included a special family touch–Adrienne’s brother was her Man of Honor and Jeff’s sister was his Best Woman.

After celebrating amidst the beautiful burgundy flower arrangements and munching on praline cake, the new Mr. and Mrs. left for a honeymoon in Northern Italy.
