Warby Parker at The Shay Offers Eye Exams and a Photo Booth

Because buying glasses should be easy AND fun.

Just over a month after celebrating their first-ever DC store in Georgetown, Warby Parker has opened a second brick-and-mortar in Shaw’s The Shay development.

While both stores will sell Warby Parker’s eyewear–glasses and shades for men and women, including a limited edition style, “Percey,” that was released when they entered the DC market–The Shay location will also offer eye exams.

Customers can book an appointment online and pay $75 for the exam. Warby Parker doesn’t accept insurance and can’t proscribe contact lenses, but for customers who are in need of an updated glasses prescription before getting fitted for a new pair of frames, the in-store exam offers a convenient solution.

The store also hosts a free photo booth with a custom background created by artist Alia Penner. Customers can slip into the booth to snap a photo in their new frames and take home a printed photo strip, with a back-up copy sent via email.

The rest of the store decor will include Warby Parker’s traditional book displays made up of second-hand volumes picked up from independent publishers, checkered terrazzo tiled floors, and illustrations on the walls by artist Maira Kalman.

Warby Parker at The Shay is now open at 1929 8th St., Suite 105, NW. Take a peek inside in the photos below.
