Park Wars: Burke Lake Park Wins

Park Wars: Burke Lake Park Wins
DON SWEENEY

After two weeks and nearly 5,000 votes cast, Washingtonian is proud to name Burke Lake the winner of Park Wars. This sultan of scenery took in 2,246 ballots across the competition, basically destroying all other entries.

How did they do it? Was it the draw of the silvery lake? The hordes of disc-golf fans who flock to the course? The miniature Central Pacific Huntington steam engine that has been chugging along its hillside since the ’60s? Take a look through the photos and decide for yourself.
