Engagement sessions in DC usually involve dressing up in coordinating outfits and heading out to some local landmarks. But for Jasmine Chalashtori and Devin Wilkins, who wanted the pictures to truly reflect their daily lives together, an engagement session meant pictures in their PJs at home. Take a look through their adorable session below by Bow Tie Photo.

Though they’d both attended the same small Florida college, it took Tinder to bring Jasmine and Devin together. They noticed that they had a ton of mutual friends, and finally figured out that because Devin had transferred to another school midway through, they’d never met on campus. They agreed to meet up in person on St. Patrick’s Day, and when Devin saw Jasmine standing on the sidewalk talking to another guy, Devin marched up and told him that Jasmine was his girlfriend. They went inside and Devin began “dancing at her with everything I had,” he says. Thankfully, Jasmine was amused, rather than freaked out. “I was both smitten and bewildered. Devin was so unapologetically him,” she says. “I’ve never laughed so much.”
The day after their one-year anniversary, the two had planned to hike the Billy Goat Trail. When they woke up to a cold, windy morning, Jasmine was far less enthusiastic about the outing. Devin managed to cajole her into it, but when he paused on a boulder that offered views of the Potomac and declared, “I like this rock,” Jasmine’s patience was starting to wear thin. She was about to ask how long they were going to stand there, when Devin asked if she wanted her anniversary present. He dropped to one knee and pulled out a rock that she decided she liked, too.
For their engagement photos, the pair was joined by Bow Tie Photo for a shoot around all the places in DC—including their Capitol Hill apartment, Union Kitchen Grocery, and Union Station—where they’d spent time. The goal of the shoot was to capture a look at their real lives together in Washington. “We chose locations that are meaningful to us—the apartment because it’s a space we created together and absolutely adore, Union Kitchen because it’s one of the many cafes we’ve stumbled upon while exploring the Capitol Hill area, [and] Union Station for the architectural appeal and the hustle and bustle that so perfectly captures DC living,” says Jasmine.
Jasmine and Devin are slated to marry in May 2017 in Morven Park. They say that the most difficult thing about planning has been selecting their vendors, as there are so many amazing local vendors to choose from, but they’re a big fan of the catering tastings thus far.
