Match.com is responsible for this playful pair! What started as appetizers and drinks turned into hours of energetic conversation over pasta at Capitol Hill’s Sonoma wine bar.  “As soon as she arrived it felt immediately comfortable and familiar,” homeland-security attorney Simon remembers, “like I was seeing someone I had known for a while.”

Their first date ended with their first kiss; a year and a half later, Simon proposed to Carlie—an executive director with Scholar Academies—in a San Francisco hotel room where he had arranged for two of her favorite things: Champagne and tacos. Carlie says she was so overwhelmed she got a nosebleed!

Come wedding day, guests played beer pong at the reception, sipped bourbon smashes garnished with grilled peaches, and indulged in a Rappahannock Oyster Company oyster bar and late-night grilled cheese sandwiches from The Big Cheese food truck. The custom bar featured the same geometric design used on the couple’s invitations, and the laser-cut chuppah later doubled as a photo booth.

As the festivities came to a close, all 180 guests left with a bottle of cocktail bitters home-made by the groom, and Carlie and Simon departed for a honeymoon in Cape Town.
