The Way This DC Hotel Wedding Goes from Ceremony to Reception Will Make You Go WHOA

We love how Jeanine Charlton and Gregory (Greg) Burke’s wedding creates an Tuscany garden party out of a classic DC hotel. See it for yourself in the photos below by Eli Turner.

Jeanine and Greg first met while on a trip to England for the company they both worked for. Both were in different relationships at the time, so it wasn’t until Jeanine relocated to Northern Virginia in 2010 and they crossed paths working for the same client that the two started to develop a friendship. One evening, they’d planned to hang out at a wine bar with friends, which wasn’t unusual. But when Greg sent a text a few hours beforehand stating, “I’ll pick you up,” it struck Jeanine as odd. She pulled her daughter into helping her select a new outfit, and by the time Greg arrived, she felt it wasn’t all business as usual. “We spent the evening at Parallel [Wine Bistro] snacking and sipping wine,” says Jeanine. “By the end of the evening, we were dating.”

They’d dated a little over a year when Jeanine and Greg spent a week on a yacht with Greg’s brother and sister-in-law in the British Virgin Islands. The third day of the trip, they made a spot at Sandy Spit Island, where they were spreading out their things on the beach when Greg asked his brother to take his and Jeanine’s picture. As Jeanine got ready to pose for the camera, Greg knelt down on one knee and presented her with a ring.

For their August wedding at the Top of the Hay at The Hay-Adams, event planner Elizabeth Duncan and Amaryllis brought a Tuscany-inspired celebration to life beneath a custom 25-by-26-foot suspended pergola. The 45 mix-and-match chairs made for an eclectic, romantic seating arrangement during the vows, after which the chairs were moved to surround the single dining table to accommodate the 35-person group in the adjacent room.

The garden party decor was complemented by a Moscow Mule and raw bar cocktail hour and a sophisticated tasting and wine pairing menu at dinner. Before the night was over, the newlyweds danced to “Smile” by Uncle Kracker and cut into their white chocolate and key lime-filled cake.
