This Glam Engagement Session Feels Almost Too Regal for DC

When it came to their engagement pictures with photographer Kanayo Adibe, Chinyere (ChiChi) Onuma and Nkemdi Chukukere wanted the session to have a very regal feel to it. They chose the Anderson House for the setting, and from what we can see, this elegant pair totally ruled their engagement shoot.

Some couples meet one another on eHarmony or Match.com or even Tinder, but it just so happens that ChiChi and Nkemdi got to know each other through a bit of technology that you wouldn’t expect: Words With Friends. After becoming Facebook friends, the two had running matches against each other, keeping up a playful banter online over who would win. A little over a year later, though ChiChi and Nkemdi had acquaintances in common, they still had never met in person. One day, as ChiChi was browsing Facebook at work, Nkemdi messaged her. The chat conversation led to an exchange of phone numbers, and before long, a first date.

When Nkemdi’s plan to propose outdoors following a scavenger hunt were thrown off due to heavy snow, he switched it up with the help of one of ChiChi’s friends, who took her out for a spa day. After a day of relaxing, ChiChi arrived at home to find Nkembi on one knee in a room filled with candles, with John Legend’s “All of Me” playing in the background.

For their engagement shoot at the Anderson House with Kanayo Adibe, the theme was “Royal African Romance,” which was completed with ChiChi’s stunning gown and Nkembi’s rich jewel-toned jacket.
