Matt Miller and Bryan Moll met at a party at the Kalorama home of a mutual friend. Almost four years later, they married at a summer cocktail-party-style wedding at the Meridian House that included an adorable cast of flower girls and ring bearers, both a ceviche station and a burrata bar, and what looks like an epic dance party. Matt Miller, a senior designer at JD Ireland Interior Architecture + Design, and Bryan Moll, an executive vice president at Strategic Property Partners, were introduced by a mutual friend on Facebook, but didn’t hit it off until they met in person a party in Kalorama. According to the couple, they went went on a date in Georgetown the next day—dinner at Bandolero and then to the movie theater to see Argo—and have been together ever since.
After two-and-a-half years of dating, Matt surprised Bryan with a trip to South Beach, Miami for Bryan’s birthday. Over champagne at dinner, Bryan returned the surprise when he popped the question. The two planned their wedding for 17 months before marrying in front of a white orchid arrangement on the beautiful lawn of the Meridian House on August 20th.
After the “I dos,” the newlyweds joined guests for cocktail hour under the twinkling lights strung from the grove of 80-year-old Spanish linden trees. Nearby, a circular statement bar was set up in the Loggia. Both a bourbon bar and a burrata bar were stationed in the Library, and in the Drawing Room, which was set up like a living room, martinis and ceviche with mini coronitas were served.
The pair skipped the traditional sit-down dinner, and instead kept the celebration cocktail-style with a full bar (including seasonal signature cocktails of gin basil smashes and bourbon-and-fig old fashioneds) and a menu of delectable hor d’oeuvres for guests to enjoy all night long.
The cocktail reception also meant guests could hit the dance floor almost immediately. Matt and Bryan kicked it off with their first dance to Betty Who’s “I Love You Always Forever.” Instead of a cake, they served Champagne jello shots, mini ice cream sandwiches, and chocolate-dipped salted-caramel bites for dessert.
Following the celebration, the newlyweds honeymooned in the French and Italian Riviera, including stops in Nice, France and Italy’s Florence, Portofino, and Elba Island.
