We Have Never Seen a Candle-Filled Chuppah Like the One at This NYE Wedding

Candles were a major part of the decor—though the cheetah(-ish) print linens also stopped us in our tracks.

Elizabeth and Jonathan met as law students at the University of Maryland. Eight years after they began dating, Jonathan popped the question while the pair were on vacation in Deer Valley, Utah. After postponing their nuptials due to Covid, they hosted a black-tie wedding at the interContinental Washington D.C. on New Year’s Eve.

The theme: “festive elegance.” Decorated in black and gold (including tablecloths that are reminiscent of a cheetah print!), the ballroom affair included an extensive appetizer selection, a three-course dinner, plus late-night savory snacks paired with mini-milkshakes. Elizabeth’s favorite detail was the candle-filled chuppah they married under; Jonathan’s was having the judges they each clerked for officiate.
