Christina, an event planner from Great Falls, and Michael, a business development professional from Delaware, met on Bumble. She thought he had a warm smile; he noticed her the moment she walked into the room. Two and a half years after a first date at Black Jack on 14th Street, Mike proposed—with the help of Christina’s co-workers—at the White-Meyer House in DC, where Christina had planned new headshots for her then company. Afterwards, they celebrated with loved ones at a catered party at Mike’s apartment.
For their April wedding at the Church of the Holy City and the InterContinental Washington DC – The Wharf, the couple says they focused on the feelings of joy, warmth, and love, with spaces decorated in shades of pink and red, accented with gold and navy. The guest experience was at the top of their priorities list, they say, and the hotel served as a weekend-long celebration base, with a welcome party for guests on the roof, and a Sunday brunch to close out the weekend. Among their favorite details were the custom dance floor, the “legendary” band, and a photo booth they say was a big hit.
