Argentinian Happy Hour at Del Campo

777 I St., NW

Celebrate Pope Francis’s Argentinian roots at his South American restaurant in Penn Quarter, which serves all-day happy hour at the bar, Tuesday through Thursday. The menu includes $6 cocktails, beers, and wines, and discount snacks such as Wagyu skirt steak empanadas ($8), seared provoleta with pickled chilies ($7), and sweet corn croquettes ($5).

Religions Beers at Brookland Pint

716 Monroe St., NE

The Pope visits the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, on Wednesday afternoon, and this casual bar/restaurant is less than two blocks away. Head in for an impressive list of religious-themed beers, such as Evil Twin Brewing’s “Double Barrel Jesus,” Nebraska Brewing Co.’s “Hop God,” and Brookland’s own variety, “No Pope, ‘Til Brookland.” The menu, which also includes a selection of Trappist Monk-brewed beer, is available all week; beers start at $6 per pint.

Pope Party at the Embassy Row Hotel

The Embassy Row Hotel in Dupont hosts a Pope Party to benefit So Others Might Eat on Tuesday evening from 4 to 7. Tickets are $25 and include food, a glass of Malbec and DJ entertainment. It’s all taking place at the hotel’s rooftop pool and lounge area, which boasts stellar DC views.

Cathedral-Area Lunch at The Pig

1320 14th St., NW

This restaurant near St. Mathew’s Cathedral isn’t typically open for lunch, but will serve an afternoon menu from noon to 3 on Wednesday for those heading over for the Midday Prayer. Happy hour begins early at 3.

Pope Tasting at Posto

Posto is offering a three-course tasting menu for $29.99 from Tuesday to Saturday in honor of Pope Francis. Choose from three appetizers, three entrees, and three desserts. Optional wine pairings are available for $25.

“Communion Hoagies” at Taylor Gourmet

Order one of Taylor Gourmet’s six new fall hoagies and receive “hoagie communion”—one freshly baked cookie to go along with your regular-sized ($7.49) or large ($10.99) sub. The offer only applies to the new sandwiches on Wednesday. Confession is taken at the register, but hungry patrons in line may not be forgiving if you linger.

GCDC‘s Papal Grilled Cheese

Grilled cheese restaurant GCDC creates a melty special for the Vatican’s visit: the Pontiff: an Argentina-inspired grilled cheese with marinated rib eye, provolone cheese, and chimichurri sauce on ciabatta, plus a choice of one side ($10 at lunch; $14 dinner). Wash it down with a glass of Argentinian Malbec for $12, or go in for a $45 bottle.

Pope’s Pizza at Ella’s Wood Fired Pizza

610 9th St., NW

Ella’s owner/ Pope lookalike Ed Hanson is so pumped about the pope’s visit that he created a pizza in Francis’s honor. The aptly named Pope’s Pizza was inspired by the Vatican’s gold and white flag, and piles fresh mozzarella, ricotta, yellow tomatoes, garlic, and basil atop a thin, lightly-charred crust. The special is available through Saturday for $15.

Special Lunch at Ghibellina
