Forget spending the weekend at the mall—this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, your shopping destination is Union Market with four pop-ups good enough to skip brunch for. To start, there’s Northern Grade, the roving pop-up that’s making an appearance in the District for the first time. This collaborative market brings American-made goods to Union Market’s Dock5, including some local retailers, such as Mutiny DC, Kicheko Goods, Gordy’s Pickle Jar, Federal, Boldfoot Socks, and Mallory Shelter Jewelry.
J.D. Ireland, the Dupont Circle interior architecture and design company, is bringing their vintage decor and mid-century home accents to the warehouses at Union Market as well, with pieces from Hemphill, Janice Goodman, D. Bryant Archie, and Julie Woolf. On Saturday and Sunday, shoppers can hunt down unique home finds, with everything from custom-made throw pillows to terrariums up for grabs.
An all-summer guest at the market is Emporium DNA Edit, which will sell the boutique’s on-trend brands—Alice & Olivia, J Brand, Parker, and Rag & Bone among them—at wallet-friendly prices. The Edit pop-up will offer their “get lucky” price for shoppers, providing up to 75 percent-off discounts.
Kit & Ace, which will have two brick and mortars in Washington within the year, is also making an appearance this weekend. Designed by the wife and son of Lululemon’s founder, the everyday luxury brand is based off of a “technical cashmere” fabric that’s more durable and washer-friendly than basic cashmere.
Union Market is located at 1309 5th St., NE. The Northern Grade pop-up will take place at Dock5, the J.D. Ireland pop-up will take place at 1270 5th St., NE, the Emporium DNA Edit pop-up will take place at 1274 5th St., NE, and the Kit & Ace pop-up will take place within Union Market.
