Where & When: The Week in Washington Nightlife

Modern dance, an eclectic theater company, and a real winner

Monday, April 18
MUSIC: Triangle Shirt Factory’s newest EP, The Last Monarchs, is a collection of songs inspired by the oil spill in the Gulf. The folk and bluegrass band released it on the one-year anniversary of the disaster. They’re performing at the Black Cat at 9 PM. Buy tickets ($8) at Ticket Alternative.

Tuesday, April 19
COMEDY: We’ve all seen the tabloid covers and bizarre interviews. Now we have the chance to see crazy personified when Charlie Sheen brings his live tour, My Violent Torpedo of Truth, to DAR Constitution Hall. 8 PM; buy tickets ($88 to $104) at Ticketmaster.

Wednesday, April 20
THEATER: Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind opens tonight at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. The 30-plays-in-60-minutes production is the mostly improvisational signature show from the Neo-Furturists, a comedy and experimental theater company from Chicago. It’s been running for 20-plus years in that city. Through May 1; get tickets ($30 to $45) at Woolly Mammoth’s Web site.

Thursday, April 21
DANCE: Lucinda Childs was a pioneer of experimental dance in the 1960s, and her company’s performance at Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center includes a revival of her first work set to music—“Dance,” accompanied by the music of Philip Glass. 8 PM; buy tickets ($35) at the Clarice Smith Web site. Also Friday, April 22, at 8 PM.
