Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What to do every night of this week for fun.

Monday, May 19: Gourmet Chocolate Tasting
Got a case of the Mondays? Take care of it by starting your week the way we wish we could kick off every week—by indulging in chocolate. ACKC, the adorable chocolate boutique on 14th Street in DC (see our profile here), is hosting a chocolate tasting tonight. The $25 admission gets you a sampling of all the gourmet chocolate treats you could wish for. The fun starts at 6:30.

Tuesday, May 20: Happy Hour All Day Long at Chef Geoff’s
Heading into happy hour hungry after work? The Chef Geoff’s at 3201 New Mexico Avenue, Northwest, is the place to go. The $5 burgers are served with a heaping helping of shoestring fries. And the beer? Oh, Lord, the beer. The bar tosses out this heavenly thing called a Supermug: 34 ounces of beer for $7.95 from an excellent array of beers on tap. If you’re less thirsty, long-necked beers (I usually go for the Shiner) are $2.95.

Wednesday, May 21: Fashion for Paws at Intermix
Georgetown style hot spot Intermix hosts a fundraiser for the Washington Humane Society’s Fashion for Paws cause from 7 to 9 PM. Gift bags, sushi snacks, and raffle tickets will be on hand—plus 10 percent of all sales will be donated to the Humane Society. RSVP to rsvp@intermixny.com.

Thursday, May 22: The Fellowship of the Ring With Live Music
Everybody loves the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, right? Soaring landscapes, a gripping story, a battle of good against evil, and of course, awesome hobbits. Well, tonight at Wolf Trap, you can see The Fellowship of the Ring like you never have before—screened in high definition, on a huge screen, with a live orchestra, several choirs, and soloists performing the soundtrack. 8:30 PM; $25 to $55.
