After spending an afternoon out on the sunny patio at Napoleon Bistro this summer, I thought, Why not bring the French bistro feeling home? Put together your own European oasis right in your backyard with fun red and white stripes, bright yellow pillows, and, of course, a little bubbly.

Inspired items (clockwise from top left): Mystic Newbury hanging outdoor lantern from Bed Bath & Beyond; Buttercup outdoor pillow from Home Depot; hanging geraniums from Home Depot; Champagne flutes from Huzza; fishtail bistro table from Wayfair; Oriental Weavers Sphinx terrace lanai beige rug from Rugs USA; Frankford striped umbrella from Wayfair.

  • Add to this a nice set of chimes with a French tune like these Woodstock Percussion Chimes of Provence, and you've got yourself a complete and utterly French patio! I for one love the extra element of sound a set of chimes adds to any patio, and this set is tuned to the lovely scale from Erik Satie's Gnossienne #1, giving it that extra bit of "French" inspiration.
