• The DC city council approved plans for the $1.5 billion development of the Southwest waterfront. When completed, the mixed-use project will boast more than 700 residential units, three hotels, and lots of retail space. [DCmud]

• The quest to renovate the historic Howard Theatre continues: A $350,000 grant from the National Park Service was given to Howard Theatre Restoration, Inc., the non-profit behind the proposed renovation. Still, a lot more money is required to cover the projected $28 million cost of the project. [WBJ]
