Where & When: Fashion Edition

This week is full of great fashion and shopping events from DC designers to big-time names such as Vivienne Westwood.

Monday and Tuesday, October 20 and 21: The Chevy Chase Saks Fifth Avenue is holding a two-day trunk show of Monique Lhuillier’s spring 2009 collection, which consists of flowy gowns inspired by a tropical-island getaway. 10 AM to 7 PM.

Thursday, October 23: Preview and preorder from Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania spring collection while sipping Champagne and enjoying a live DJ at Muléh from 5 to 8 PM. Plus, catch a glimpse of the gorgeous wedding gown that Westwood created for Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City movie!

At the Georgetown boutique Wink, enjoy pink Champagne and cupcakes while browsing local accessory designer Andrea Tedesco’s fall collection trunk show from 5:30 to 8 PM. A portion of the evening’s proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Friday, October 24, through Sunday, October 26: Year-round, Treat boutique offers sample-sale merchandise at prices already 30 to 70 percent off retail prices. This weekend and next, take an additional 15 percent off any handbag—including designers such as Foley + Korinna and Rebecca Minkoff—at the Alexandria boutique.

Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25: The Daisy Baby and Apple Seed Maternity Supersale is the place to be for mothers-to-be and mothers-already. Apple Seed’s maternity fashions are up to 70 percent off, and everything in-stock at Daisy Baby, where the sale is being held, starts at 20 percent off.

Friday through Sunday, October 24 to 26: Two Bethesda boutiques, Ginger and the Little Shoe Box, will be holding a joint sale offering 30 percent storewide in both stores. Ginger offers top designer clothing in an eco-friendly atmosphere. The Little Shoe Box specializes in chic, unique designer shoes.

Friday through Sunday, October 24 to 26: Harriet Kassman’s 40 percent off sale begins this Friday. Champagne, snacks and an additional 10 percent off will be offered all day Saturday and Sunday in the store, which sells everything from sportswear to accessories to bridal gowns.

Saturday, October 25: Check out local L~Shandi Designs’ African-inspired dresses and handbags from 11 to 6 at the U Street boutique Caramel. Pop a balloon to reveal discounts of up to half off. Also, if you mention The Washingtonian, you’ll receive 20 percent off regular Caramel merchandise during this event.

Sunday, October 26: Chas Schwartz & Son Jewelers is hosting a trunk show featuring Pandora’s entire line of colorful charms for customizable charm bracelets. Spend $100 and receive a free starter bracelet.
