Okay, we’ll admit it: Shopping was not the primary reason we were so jazzed for Arts on Foot and Adams Morgan Day. With hand-held samples from Penn Quarter’s snazziest restaurants, $10 unlimited winetasting, and outdoor karaoke ready for the taking, the, ahem, “cultural” aspects of last weekend’s festivals were unavoidably our main priorities. But finding the best merchant stalls was a close second! Read on for a brief look at who really caught our eye.
Bookish Lady
Richly colored and cheekily kitschy calling cards. How awesome would it be to hand out "I think you're cute" cards bars rather than the standard business variety?
Mary Belcher Watercolors
Her fun, color-coded DC neighborhoods map caught our eye.
Fuzzy Ink
Graphic tees can get old fast, but c’mon—who can resist moustache detailing? We certainly can’t.
Lolabean Sweet
Sweet, discreet, and delicate charms, quartz pendants that walk right side of the artsy-ugly line, and a horizontal bar necklace that gets more ingenious each time we look at it. Love it.
Nancy Nelson Jewelry
Nature is the obvious inspiration behind Nelson’s organic, handmade pieces, but we can’t say we hate it. Especially this twig necklace—must be the horizontal thing again.
Lil Fishy
The little girls’ dresses are a little garish, but we’re obsessed with the brightly colored onesies. Hipster infant wear at its finest.
Katherine Watson
Inspired by traditional textiles and architecture, Watson founded her line of prints after an apprenticeship at an Indian block-printing factory, and hand-carves everything into linoleum before transferring it to cloth, paper, etc.. We think her journals, note cards, and zippered pouches are all things of smartly patterned beauty.
