Sneak Peek: 6 Reasons to Get Excited About Shopping Worn Abroad (Photos)

Plus details on Worn Magazine’s major launch party this Saturday.

Our love affair with Nicole Aguirre’s DC fashion glossy, Worn Magazine, is well documented—we’ve got mad respect for the striking photographs through which she showcases the city’s indie fashion and creative scene. There’s a Washington beyond suits on the Hill, after all, and Worn is solid (and beautiful) proof of that. After taking a year off to travel the globe, Nicole is back with a hotly anticipated fourth issue of Worn Magazine (details below), but it’s Worn Abroad, the accompanying e-commerce venture she’s whipped up with Seersucker Social mastermind Eric Channing Brewer, that we’re most jazzed about.

As Aguirre told us in a June interview, “Worn Abroad is about bringing street style from cities around the word here to the US. I’m not talking about souvenirs or really high-end luxury brand products, but the things you and I would wear on the street.”

So you know all those impossibly cool pieces you see on street style blogs from Europe and Japan and fruitlessly search for on Forever 21 and other trendy fast-fashion sites? Now, you can get ’em at Worn Abroad. The site is slated to launch this Saturday, and Aguirre gave us a look at some of the goods. Click through our slideshow to see six of the cool pieces, including a camera iPhone skin from Japan and a sexy Korean capelet.

And if you want even more Worn, Aguirre and Channing are hosting a launch party for the hotly anticipated transport-themed fourth issue this Saturday, September 22 (UPDATE: the party has been rescheduled to September 30), at the Capitol Skyline Hotel from 5 to 9 PM. Tickets ($20 in advance, $25 at the door) gets you a copy of the issue, copies of any of the past three issues (while supplies last), and a 10 percent discount on your first Worn Abroad purchase. There will also be cocktails, tunes, and plenty of fashionable eye-candy to ogle—Worn events tend to turn out some of the best-dressed indie folks in the city. To get a sneak peek at some photos from the issue, head over to BYT.
