Where & When: Fashion Edition

Get ready for a big weekend of yoga gear, cool gifts and DIY classes.

Tuesday, May 6: Local jewelry and handbag designer Ashley Dodgen-McCormick presents the spring collection of her line Asha from 2:30 to 7:30pm at Apres Peau.

The local businesses of Adams Morgan stay open late tonight for the neighborhood's monthly First Tuesday event. A few to check out: Eco-friendly shop Hoopla will be serving up free organic wine, while vintage boutique Meeps has 10 percent off all day and free sunglasses with every purchase over $30 from 5 to 7pm.

Saturday, May 10: Stock up on super-soft organic cotton yoga separates from local line Even Keel, which will be 20 percent off from 1 to 5pm at Georgetown boutique Wink.

We love the idea of Learn-a-Palooza, a day-long series of free workshops on everything from greening your home to how to dance at a party. The newly reopened Café Collage (next to Café Saint-Ex on T Street) is currently offering two that should appeal DIY fashion lovers: Intro to Knitting from 2:30 to 3:30pm and Using Photoshop to Make Basic Screenprints from 3 to 4pm.

It’s Second Saturday on Barracks Row, which means local businesses stay open late—including our favorite card and gift store, Groovy, which will keep its doors open from 6 to 9pm. (And while you’re there, don’t miss the Groovy family’s brand new children’s store, Groovyland Toys & Treats, located just across the street.)

Sunday, May 11: It’s Mother’s Day! Did you get mom a present yet? If you’re still looking, bluemercury has a lot of good ideas—along with a brand-new Bethesda Row outpost, making it even easier to grab a quick gift.

Tuesday, May 13: The May meeting of the D.C. Fashionistas–a local organization for involved with and interested in fashion—will be held at The Park at Fourteenth. Doors open at 7pm; the meetup officially starts at 8pm. Sign up here.
