Through September 1: Two amazingly stylish new exhibitions recently opened up at The National Portrait Gallery. Works by shutterbug Zaida Ben-Yusuf feature New York’s savviest dressers at the turn of the 20th century, while images from longtime Vanity Fair portrait photog Edward Steichen give a glimpse of well-clad celebrities from the early to mid-1900s.
Movers & Shoppers: Must-know address changes and other announcements
*Statement-making jewelry designer Bobbie Medlin recently gave up her Georgetown location to make way for a new American Apparel store, but luckily, she’s set up a gorgeous new second-floor shop nearby at 1155 30th St. (just off M Street).
* Logan Circle-area rug guru Timothy Paul has just opened up a new outpost focused on bedding and homewares at 1529A 14th St. NW (between P and Q streets), where you’ll find colorful, quirky home accessories and gorgeously graphic textiles.
* Not far away, former Adams Morgan furniture haven Miss Pixie’s has just opened up in a much bigger space at 1626 14th St. NW (at R Street).
