The DC Irish Writers Festival kicks off with a reception and a discussion at the Goethe-Institut about the latest writing from Northern Ireland. DC’s newest performance-art group, Story League—cofounded by Washingtonian contributing editor Cathy Alter—combines the talents of local poets, actors, comedians, and others. Camp Freddy, performing at the 9:30 Club, is way more than just a band. It’s a gathering of some of rock’s biggest names, headed up by Billy Morrison and Dave Navarro, among others, and the jam sessions include covers of legendary songs and guest appearances.
