Singer-songwriter Tori Amos is bringing her Night of Hunters tour to DAR Constitution Hall. “Every project she undertakes operates on a new governing principle, a formal or thematic innovation that helps Amos express her big ideas in ways that are both challenging and musically alluring,” says NPR. Tickets ($45) can be purchased through Ticketmaster. 8 PM.

For one night only, the Shakespeare Theatre Company will host a broadcast of the National Theatre’s The Kitchen. Set in a restaurant in 1950s London, the play follows a love affair between a young chef and a married waitress. Tickets ($20) can be purchased through the theater’s Web site. 7:30 PM.

One of our favorite Georgetown boutiques, Ella-Rue, is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a fashionable affair. From 6 to 8 PM, shoppers can enjoy complimentary champagne and holiday treats, with 10 percent of purchases benefiting the Washington Humane Society. Don’t miss opening night of American Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker at the Kennedy Center. Choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky, the dance company “has a production like no other,” says the New York Times. “Made with complete theatrical authority from first to last, it shows many aspects of Mr. Ratmansky: satirist, storyteller, dramatist, poet.” The show runs through December 11. Tickets ($45 to $150) can be purchased through the KenCen’s Web site. 7:30 PM.
