Preppy and elegant, Elizabeth Kearns and Scott Strongoski’s wedding is the perfect combination of some only-in-DC elements with some truly personal additions to their day. Take a peek at their celebration in the photos below by Annamarie Akins.

Elizabeth and Scott were both out to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at a bar in DC when they struck up a conversation. “He was tall, talkative, and preppy,” says Elizabeth. “All good things!” They decided to meet up at Estadio for dinner, during which they bonded over their shared love of cheese.

They’d dated for a year and seven months when Elizabeth was helping Scott decorate his Christmas tree. “He kept handing me the ornaments one-by-one to put on the tree, which I figured was an acknowledgement of my superior tree-decorating skills,” she says. When she was nearly finished, she turned to take another ornament from Scott, only to find him holding out a ring instead.

For their July wedding, Elizabeth included some family heirloom accessories in her wedding day look: a lace-trimmed cathedral-length veil and lace from her mother’s wedding gown, which she carried around her bouquet. At the reception, notable DC buildings and monuments decorated the table numbers for an only-in-Washington flair, while navy and white ribbons on the bridesmaid bouquets and cake added to the preppy theme of the night.

Throughout the evening, the catering company, Well Dunn Catering, stationed servers by the bride and groom to make sure they had all the refreshments they needed. “It was a very nice touch that made us feel special and well taken care of,” says Elizabeth. After dancing to “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran and sipping the jalapeño margaritas and orange thyme gin and tonic custom cocktails, the newlyweds departed with plans to honeymoon in France and Greece.
