Since Tim and Jennifer had different friend groups, it took a blind date at a St. Regis to get them together. Though the Democratic Tim, who works in political digital advertising, never thought he’d develop feelings for a Republican, he made an exception for Jennifer, who would later go on to help found Republican Women for Hillary. “After a few drinks and a pleasantly bipartisan evening, Tim asked me for my email address and he emailed me the very next day to set up our first date!” says Jennifer.

After dating for over two years, Tim invited Jennifer to an event with First Lady Michelle Obama at The Hay-Adams. The outing was a rouse, however; Tim instead told Jennifer they needed to stop by the St. Regis to pick up a credit card he’d accidentally left there a few days prior. When they arrived at the St. Regis bar, Tim got down on one knee while his friend jumped out to snap photos of the moment.

For their wedding, it made sense to celebrate their bipartisan relationship with an election-themed reception. A traditional Korean ceremony took place the day before their church ceremony, after which they headed to the St. Regis to party. During cocktail hour, campaign buttons and political posters with “Limrotti 2015”—a combination of their surnames—were scattered throughout the room, along with cocktail napkins bearing faux “campaign slogans.” Cardboard cutouts of President Obama, Carly Fiorina, Hillary Clinton, and Marco Rubio were positioned alongside the photo booth for guests to pose with.

When the reception came to a close, the after-party crew paraded down the block with patriotic parasols, balloons, and their campaign signs. Later, the newlyweds honeymooned in Italy and St. Bart’s.
