“As it turns out, it really does happen when you least expect it,” says Jayne Visser of meeting The One. She met hers via a blind date, set up by their parents. “I accepted Matt’s invitation to coffee at The Jefferson last January never thinking I might be meeting my future husband.” Matt, however, could sense that fate was intervening. Asked his first impression of Jayne, Matt Leffingwell, a chief of staff for a member of Congress, says simply: Finally!

The two dated for eight months and Matt proposed on Jayne’s birthday while the two were visiting her family in Montana. “It was private and sincere, and filled with lots of tears and special memories,” says Jayne, an entrepreneur, of the proposal.

Their wedding four months later, one day shy of the one-year anniversary of their first date, brought them back to The Jefferson, where guests were treated to Jayne’s sister serenading the couple with “To Make You Feel My Love” during the ceremony. “There wasn’t a dry eye in the room,” says Jayne. For Matt, the wedding symbolized everything he could feel the moment they first met. “We were two people who optimistically look toward the future—it was the beginning of the happiest times to come.”
