For chic bridesmaid gifts, head to Ginger for the Elaine Turner shoes-and-handbag trunk show. The Jackie Onassis-inspired designs include luxe braided-leather satchels and boldly patterned flats. The store is open daily 10 to 8.

Saturday, September 18
The Great Bridal Expo at the Hilton Alexandria at Mark Center is a one-stop shop where you can see what dozens of vendors have to offer for your wedding, honeymoon, or new home. National and local exhibitors will show dresses, resort packages, floral arrangements, beauty products, and more. Tickets are $9 at the door or $7 if you buy them online. 11 to 3.

Sunday, September 19
The Washington Bridal Showcase, the largest bridal exhibition in Montgomery County, is at the Bethesda North Marriott . There’ll be runway shows, tastings, music demonstrations, and displays from more than 200 of the area’s vendors. Tickets are $8 online or $10 at the door. 11 to 5.

If you’re looking for the perfect cake or you’ve seen one you want to replicate, try the Cakes by Design open house. The shop offers several cake flavors and fillings and welcomes guests to bring in pictures of cakes they admire. By appointment only; RSVP to cakesbydesign@yahoo.com.

The Fauquier Springs Country Club, an hour west of Washington, offers several comprehensive wedding packages. The venue is hosting an open house where you can tour the facilities and sample the menu. RSVP to jbrose@fauquiersprings.com. 1 to 3.

Wednesday, September 22
To preview the fall and winter menus, the Reston-based New Age Caterers is hosting a free tasting at Foxchase Manor. Other professionals attending the event include Dragonfly Events & Design, Devers Design Florist, and Classic Creations Photography. RSVP online to secure a spot. 5 to 9.
