More than 90 nationally known authors are participating in the National Press Club’s Book Fair and Author Night. They’ll be signing autographs and selling their books. You’ll find chef Spike Mendelsohn’s (Good Stuff Eatery and We, the Pizza) cookbook, and an insider look at the Washington Post, a biography of Oprah, and more. Proceeds benefit the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library. 5:30 to 8:30. $5 for non-NPC members at the door; free for NPC members.
Rapper Common narrates Music . . . on Film: Bouncing Cats, a documentary about a man in Uganda who uses breakdance and hip-hop to give youth a better life. Following the screening at National Geographic’s Grosvenor Auditorium, there’s a Q&A with two of the film’s producers and subjects. 7 PM. Buy tickets ($10) here.
Sculptor Antony Gormley is giving a lecture tonight at the Phillips Collection. The artist creates iron sculptures cast from molds of his own body. His most recent project, “Horizon Field,” features more than 100 life-size casts taken in the Austrian Alps. 6:30. Register here. Free, but donations are requested.
