For the Girl Who Has Everything Farinelli’s. Local denim whiz Mauro Farinelli has two new boutiques specializing in such upper-end, hard-to-find brands as Kasil and Nudie plus his own label. 11874 Market St., Reston, 571-926-9478; 2839 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington, 703-647-9856; farinellis.blogspot.com. Denim Bar. You name it, DB’s got it. Premium brands such as Acne and Earnest Sewn are stocked alongside staples including 7 for All Mankind. 1101 S. Joyce St., Arlington, 703-414-8202; 4939 Cordell Ave., Bethesda, 301-986-5260; thedenimbar.net. National Jean Company. This chain carries exclusive offerings by such names as J Brand plus city-savvy labels such as Current/Elliott. 7301 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda, 301-907-0295; 1826 Library St., Reston, 703-689-2101; nationaljeancompany.com.
Best Boutiques Barneys Co-Op. This is high-end denim heaven—brands such as Stella McCartney and Helmut Lang. You’ll find less-crowded shopping and friendlier sales help in Chevy Chase. 5471-C Wisconsin Ave., Chevy Chase, 301-634-4061; 3040 M St., Georgetown, 202-350-5832. South Moon Under. What started as a swimwear chain also has become a source for jeans that work on nearly any figure. Locations in Reston, Bethesda, Clarendon, Annapolis, and more; southmoonunder.com. Luna. This boutique packs more than 1,000 pairs of high-quality denim into less than 900 square feet. Sales help is friendly, too. 7232 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda; 301-656-1111; shopluna.com. Blues on a Budget T.J.Maxx. Check out the Runway department at select stores; our favorite is in Alexandria, off I-395. 3451 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Alexandria; 703-519-9420. Neiman Marcus Last Call and Saks Off 5th. These outlets have similar selections as the department stores but at a fraction of the price. The Potomac Mills Off 5th (Woodbridge; 703-497-2100) and Arundel Mills Last Call (Hanover; 410-579-6790) are our favorites. Loehmann’s. If you’re new to the designer-denim scene, hit the Loehmann’s in Arlington for racks of jeans for less than $100. 7271 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church; 703-573-1510. Filene’s Basement. You’ll find good deals: Brands such as Not Your Daughter’s Jeans can be $75 or less. The National Press Club store (529 14th St., NW; 202-638-4110) often has the best selection. Related: Jean Therapy

$100 or more for jeans is just ridiculous, even for someone who can afford it. Kudos to including places like TJ Maxx!

I go to Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets for all of my jeans. They have Saks Off Fifth, Barneys NY, Lucky Jeans, Diesel, and many other choices. I got a great pair of Joe’s Jeans for around $50. If you join their VIP Club or pick up a VIP coupon at the Info Center ($5, I think), you can save even more. They even have a new shuttle from DC on the weekends.
