After Hours Items: The Best Links of the Week

Every Friday, After Hours rounds up the best local links for entertainment and nightlife coverage from this week.

Excited for the last episodes of The Sopranos? You’re not the only one. Our very own Garrett Graff was at the DC sneak preview of the season premiere and reports on it in our Capital Comment blog.

Local music blog the Rockist Society is one of my favorite music reads. This week it reviews the Long Winters and Broken West show at the Rock N Roll Hotel, plus music videos from Feist and Lucero (who plays tonight at the Black Cat).

If this community group get its way, 17th Street between Massachusetts and New Hampshire in Dupont Circle will become a pedestrian promenade. Read the group’s manifesto. Think it’s a good idea?

Neighborhood blog Frozen Tropics points us to a DJ dance party at the Red & Black Club (1212 H Street, NE).

If sports is more your scene, be sure to check out the End o’ the Season Shindig celebrating the Capitals hockey season. Thanks to DC Sports Chick for the tip!

And, finally, if you need to avoid the throngs of cherry blossom tourists, DCist reminds us (in a post from last year that still has quality info) that there are excellent Virginia wineries only an hour or two away.
