DC Mayor's Arts Awards
Comments () | Published March 19, 2007

If you're looking for local arts & entertainment royalty, you can't do better than this evening's Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards  at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage.

Starting at 6 pm, Mayor Adrian Fenty will preside over his first Mayor's Arts Awards. The awards are the highest honor given by the District of Columbia in recognition of artistic excellence and service among artists and patrons in the area.

Award-winning a capella gospel group Sweet Honey In The Rock will perform and accept the Lifetime Achievement Award, and
WAMU's Kojo Nnamdi will be the evening's Master of Ceremonies.

The best part of it all? The ceremony is open to anybody, and friends who have attended in years past tell me that the evening is loads of fun. All you've got to do to go is RSVP by email or phone to artsawards@dc.gov or 202.724.5613.

Can't make the ceremony? No problem. With the magic of the internet at your hands, you can watch the ceremony live, streaming over at the Kennedy Center's web site.
