Pop-art aficionados should head to the National Portrait Gallery for the “Warhol Himself: Culture in Motion” performance. Wednesday, August 5

Politicos nostalgic for election fever can (sort of) relive the excitement at Politics and Prose tonight. Washington Post journalists Dan Balz and Haynes Johnson will discuss The Battle for America 2008, their analysis of race-, gender-, and class-based undercurrents of the Obama and McCain campaigns. 7 PM. Call 202-364-1919 for more information.

Thursday, August 6
Folk meets bluegrass and hip-hop when the Justin Tratwick Group performs tonight as part of the Rock at the Row summer concert series at Pentagon Row (Army Navy Dr. and S. Joyce St., Arlington). The singer/songwriter has opened for Sara Bareilles, Jenny Owens Young, and Brett Dennen. The two-hour set begins at 7 PM. Call 434-977-9234 for more information.

Friday, August 7
Does the Brat Pack ever get old? Pretty in Pink screens at Rossyln’s free outdoor film series tonight. Show up early for the pre-show ’80s-themed games and prizes at Gateway Park, or make it just in time for the movie at dusk—around 8. To see the complete schedule, click here.

Saturday, August 8
Show your support for just-graduated starving artists at Irvine Contemporary, an art gallery in DC. “Introduction5,” the fifth installment of the MFA Annual exhibit, opens tonight with pieces by students from across the country, including the Maryland Institute College of Art and Savannah College of Art & Design. The opening ceremony, where artists will be on hand to discuss their work, takes place tonight from 6:30 to 9. 1412 14th St., NW. Call 202-332-8767 for more information.

Sunday, August 9

Today’s the last day Jaromir Funke’s quirky Czech photography from the 1930s will be on display at the National Gallery. If you haven’t been yet, we recommend it—this is the first time the collection has traveled outside Europe.
