Monday, July 26
The Fridge Gallery premieres Manifest Hope: DC, an award-winning documentary directed by Alfred Gragg. The film, which highlights the grassroots art movement inspired by President Obama’s 2008 campaign, snagged the best-director award in the short-documentary category at the New York International Independent Film Festival. You can buy tickets ($8) at the door, which opens at 7. Film screens at 8.

Tuesday, July 27
Acoustic star Mat Kearney takes the stage at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue with songs from his latest album, City of Black & White. Jane Carrey, daughter of the comic actor Jim Carrey, will join him for the show. Be on the lookout for our interview with her, coming up this week. Tickets ($20 in advance; $23 on the day of the show) are available here. 8 PM.

Wednesday, July 28
In search of peaceful conscience? DC Yoga holds a charity event tonight at Zen Tara Tea in Bethesda (4710 Bethesda Ave.; 301-215-5923) to benefit Citizen Effect’s 30-Day Yoga Challenge. With the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, Citizen Effect is raising money to provide six children from Cloestesville, South Africa, with a safe and nurturing foster-home facility, school tuition, and more. Learn about the cause while enjoying tea, mini-hand readings, and mehndi art. The event is free with a suggested donation of $10 to $15. 5 to 8.

Thursday, July 29
Join artist Jason Wright at the opening of his oil-painting exhibition at Gallery Plan B. The collection, which runs through August 29, highlights Wright’s second career as a professional skydiver. Though he’s been jumping for only a year, Wright already competes in national and international skydiving events. Tonight, take in the works at a reception with light refreshments. Free. 6 to 8.
