Where and When Bridal: What to Do This Weekend

Browse dozens of Carolina Herrera gowns and hundreds of elegant wedding rings, and have a velvety piece of cake (or two) this weekend.

Thursday, October 16, through Saturday, October 18: A Trunk Show of Dresses
Brides, we have two words for you: Carolina Herrera. Today through Saturday, head to Carine’s Bridal Atelier in Georgetown for a trunk show of the Venezuelan designer’s spring 2009 bridal line. The former Jackie Onassis stylist is sending 30 to 40 gowns for the event, and brides who purchase during the show will receive a 10-percent discount. Free; appointments required.

Saturday, October 18: A Trunk Show of Jewelry
Jewelry designer Paul Tacorian will be at Mervis Diamond Importers on Saturday for a trunk show of his newest collection, which consists of hundreds of engagement and wedding rings as well as other elegant pieces. In anticipation of an overwhelming turnout, Mervis will be closing its Chevy Chase and K Street locations for the day so the entire staff can be on hand. Special pricing will be offered during the show. 9 to 5; free.

Sunday, October 19: Cake Tasting
Head to Silver Spring on Sunday for a special once-a-month tasting event at Creative Cakes. Brides and grooms have the opportunity to sample every flavor of cake the company makes, from the ever-popular vanilla to a smooth butter rum or mandarin orange. There’ll also be an assortment of vendors in attendance, including a videographer, photographer, travel agent, DJ, and florist. Noon to 3; free.
