Friday, April 2, through Sunday, April 4
Scope out Hannelore’s of Old Town’s trunk shows this weekend, featuring bridesmaids’ dresses from the Watters & Watters and Wtoo lines, both by Thai-born designer Vattana Watters. The Watters line specializes in innovative fashion, while Wtoo offers more affordable takes on those designs. Call ahead to make an appointment. Friday and Saturday 10 to 6, Sunday noon to 5.

Saturday, April 3
Mrs. Oliver’s Cakes is offering a free cake tasting. The bakery in North Bethesda specializes in custom-designed cakes and three-dimensional sugar art. The open house starts at 10, and no registration is required.

Need more cake options? Head to Cotton’s Gourmet Gifts & Creations. The Hyattsville bakery is offering free house-made cake samples. Seasons Cards and Gifts hosts a gathering of wedding vendors the first Wednesday of every month. Today, there are events in Gainesville (intersection of routes 15 and 29; 703-753-0797) and South Riding (South Riding Market Square; 703-327-1114). To RSVP, call the individual stores. Free.
