Weddings at private homes always have a very intimate feel to them, but Kathryn Flynn and John Windsor went above and beyond to personalize their nuptials–from the hand carved table numbers to the custom vows to the groom’s cufflinks, which were passed down from his God father. All of the romance of this Eastern Shore wedding was captured by Jim Kennedy Photographers.

After graduating form her masters program, Kathryn moved to Easton, where her sister lived, to take a job at a hospital. When her sister was invited to a party at Ellenborough Cottage, Kathryn decided to tag along. The cottage belonged to John’s mother, so when he spotted a face he didn’t know in the crowd, he hurried to introduce himself. Eager to get to know the lovely girl better, he invited her to dinner at The Bartlett Pear Inn, followed by a romantic stroll around historic Easton.
Six months after they first met, the two returned to the spot of their first date, and it was there, on the upper balcony of the Bartlett Pear Inn, that John asked Kathryn to be his wife. They planned their wedding for August at the spot of their first meeting: the family Ellenborough Cottage.
Their wedding on August 9, 2014 was filled with personal touches, starting with the song Kathryn, a soprano, sang to her groom during the ceremony as a surprise. The bride’s bouquet was filled with photos of loved ones, while all of the bridal party bouquets were wrapped in lace to match the bride’s Monique Lhuillier gown.
For the reception, the tables were decorated with wooden numbers hand carved by the groom. In addition to their cake, the couple served six different flavors of ice cream, each chosen by a member of their wedding party. After an evening of celebration, Kathryn and John rode away into the night in a 1966 Stingray Corvette convertible.
