David and Colleen’s wedding featured elements inspired by a private dinner at the Finnish Embassy, where they first met. All photographs by Peter Stepanek Photography
David and Colleen celebrated their marriage at a “comfortable, hip, and classy” event at the W Hotel in DC in early August. When we saw their photos from Peter Stepanek Photography, we were totally wowed by their style. A little vintage, a little modern, but totally chic. We asked David and Colleen to tell us a bit more about their look:
The Bride
The Dress: Dusan from Saks Jandel (301-652-2250)
The Belt and Veil: “I worked with a stylist at Saks Jandel to custom-make a belt with jewels that I picked out,” says Colleen. “And then she custom-made the veil, as well.”
The Hair: Fred Hawck at One80 Salon in DC
The Makeup: Carl Ray
The Shoes: Jimmy Choo
The Groom
The Tux and Tie: Dolce & Gabbana from the eponymous store on Rodeo Drive.
The Vest: Kenneth Cole “After the wedding, I shed the tuxedo jacket and threw on my Kenneth Cole black velour vest and donned a fedora for the reception,” David says.
The Fedora: From Hollywood Hatters in Los Angeles “It’s like my favorite baseball cap,” says David. “I got it when I was big into swing dancing in the mid-to-late ’90s in LA.”
