Are you ready for the Running of the Brides? This Friday at 8 AM, hundreds of brides-to-be will race into the Filene’s Basement store at Mazza Gallerie to find a designer wedding dress priced as low as $249 (this is a huge deal—these dresses typically retail for up to $9,000).

Brides who want first dibs at the discounted 1,700 wedding dresses often recruit friends and family member to join their “team,” create matching T-shirts and even signs announcing “their” bride’s size and gown style wish list, and line up hours before the doors open at 8. The most hardcore spend the night.

If you’re interested in going, check out these tips from Filene’s Basement to help maximize your “Running” experience. And even if you hate crowds, Filene’s will be restocking the shelves throughout the day, so when things calm down (usually after 11 AM), there will still be racks full of gowns available.

We also just got word that tailor Maria Luz and her team from Anytime Alterations in Kensington will be on hand to answer any questions about altering and repairing wedding gowns—the money you save on the actual gown could be used to tailor the dress to create a perfect fit.

And we’ll be on hand at the Running of the Brides sale, filming all the action, so check back on Friday afternoon for full coverage. Happy running!
