Where & When Bridal: What to Do This Weekend

A crafty wedding-invitation workshop, a registry party at Crate & Barrel, and more.

By Marissa Conrad Published Thursday, February 7: Thread Bridesmaid Trunk Show
A representative from Thread—a fashion line known for colorful and cute bridesmaid dresses—will be at Hitched (1523 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-333-6162) to show the new Thread 2008 collection. Bring your bridesmaids for a dressing-room fiesta—Thread will have lots of sizes—because if you place an order for your complete bridal party, you’ll get 15 percent off. RSVP by calling the salon or e-mailing appointments@hitchedsalon.com. 5 to 8 PM.

Wine-and-Cheese Bridal Showcase

If you missed the wine-and-cheese event at Dave & Buster’s last week, head to Martin’s Crosswinds (7400 Greenway Center Dr., Greenbelt; 410-792-4832) for the same deal: complimentary snacks and drinks, photo and videography displays from the Pros, a short presentation, and time to mingle and hear the Pros’ DJs put on a little show. Free tickets available here or at the door; 6:45 PM.

Saturday, February 9: I Do Bridal Showcase
This free expo at the Bowling Green Country Club North (838 Bowling Green Rd., Front Royal; 540-635-2024) will feature bridal makeovers, hors d’oeuvres, lots of vendors, and a raffle or two. 11 AM to 2 PM.

Sunday, February 10: “The Wedding Parties” Registry Event
Crate & Barrel (five area locations) invites couples to a continental breakfast, demos of various appliances, and a relaxed stroll-through of the store to view items and ask questions about registering. Call the store to RSVP (preferred but not required). 9 to 11 AM.

“Wedding Invites” Workshop
Head to Georgetown’s Paper Source (3019 M St., NW; 202-298-5545) to learn the ins and outs of making your own save-the-dates and invitations. You’ll get to experiment with various types of paper and ribbon. Register by phone or online, but you must sign up at least a day in advance. $55; 2 to 5 PM.
