What’s special: Opened in February, this 32-story slender skyscraper pays homage to Manhattan’s diverse districts with neighborhood-themed floors that go from the Financial District at the bottom of the building to Harlem at the top. Made from more than 10,000 photos, giant back-lit collages depict the different areas. The rooms are decorated with dark-wood furnishings; a soothing color palette of creams, browns, and grays; and plush Frette bedding. The hotel is walking distance to Times Square, the theater district, excellent restaurants, Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, the Empire State Building, and good shopping.
