Film Screening of “The True Cost”
The documentary that asks the question “Who really pas the price for our clothing” takes a look at the fashion industry in which fast fashion retailers have dramatically decreased the price of apparel. The film, presented by Fashion Fights Poverty, will be shown on Tuesday evening in Arlington. Networking and opening remark by Bianca Alexander of Conscious Living TV will begin at 6:30 PM, followed by a screening of the film at 7:15 PM. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Baltimore Fashion Week
The city’s most fashionable will take over the War Memorial for this weekend of a “Wonderland of Fashion” featuring three consecutive days of runway shows presented by the Fashion Umbrella Foundation, which works to support designers and businesses. Purchase tickets on Eventbrite for the runway show and catered reception on 7 PM on August 14, with another show at 6 PM on August 15, and a final show at 6 PM on August 16. Weekend Shoe Design Workshop
Visit the Nordstrom at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City this Saturday to design some kicks with Shoes of Prey. The workshop will focus on designing footwear for the weekend with casual, off-duty styles. The event is in conjunction with the shop’s Win 52 Shoes Competition, providing attendees the opportunity to perfect their shoe design submission. Athleta Fashion Show
Get a sneak peek of the athletic brand’s fall collection at a runway show on Saturday evening. The first 20 attendees to RSVP will receive VIP seating and swag bags, and the after party will feature goodies from Sephora, Aspire Sport Drink, and Maggiano’s Catering. Nakimuli Trunk Show
The Brooklyn-based designer who launched her brand, Nakimuli, in 2009, will show her end-of-summer apparel for sale at the Nubian Hueman, with a trunk show on August 15. Crop tops, skirts, swimsuits, and jackets will all be up for grabs in bright, vivid colors and patterns and sizes that run from small to 3x-large. The event will take place from 2 to 6 PM at Nubian Hueman Boutique Lounge, 1231 Good Hope Road, SE.
