If you’re in the market for some new sparkle, swing by Capitol Hill event space Tabula Rasa this week for a pop-up shop from Alexandria-based jewelry shop Mystique Jewelers. The three-day event kicks off with a cocktail party, which will feature a private showing of bridal designs from Andrew Meyer plus everyday fine jewelry. Fashion’s Night Out Petworth: Where Old Meets New
FNO may be officially on hiatus in New York this year, but consignment boutiques Willow Fashion and Fia’s Fabulous Finds keep it alive in Petworth with fall fashion previews, a fashion show, a swag bag giveaway, and 10 percent discounts on purchases at both shops. Nearly 50 local designers, artisans, and food vendors gather to sell their goods at this monthly market in Logan Circle. This month, check out jewelry, accessories, and clothing from designers Saint Clair Jewelry, DeNada, Kelly Towles, and Mutiny, among others. A family-friendly rock band will perform. Who doesn’t love the retro perfection of Mad Men? The style pro behind the looks, costume designer Janie Bryant—who also parlayed her work with the show into a three-season collab with Banana Republic, brand partnerships, and work on an upcoming reality design show—visits a Smithsonian Associates seminar next Monday, where she’ll chat about her inspirations for the cast’s wardrobe and discuss how the show has influenced modern style. After the talk, check out some of Bryant’s original sketches while sipping ’60s-inspired cocktails. September 9, 7 PM.
