Hip-Hop, absinthe, and history round out an eclectic agenda.

The Capital Fringe Festival isn’t the only sprawling arts option in town this week. The free DC Hip-Hop Theater Festival,, kicks off tonight and runs through Saturday. Tonight’s events start with a DJ exhibition at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage at 6 and continue with performances at Studio Theatre before winding up the night at Dance Place. Make like Van Gogh and take in an absinthe tasting at Wisdom. Tickets ($40) include four tastings from the “cocktail parlor’s” collection and two original drinks. Head to the Grille at Morrison House for a talk with historian Richard Klingenmaier, who discusses a recently discovered gold ring given to the wife of an Alexandria sea captain in the early 1800s. Having been returned to Alexandria after 210 years, the ring tells an intriguing story about its owners and American history. Free; 6 to 7.
