A Reagan Airport Engagement Shoot — Why Have We Never Seen This Before?

We love that Sarah Murphy and Daniel Lavoie’s engagement session not only managed to capture their affection for one another, but also for a major DC landmark, Ronald Reagan National Airport. Take a peek at their architecture-filled session in the photos below by Lisa Boggs Photography.

“His dimples had me from the start,” says Sarah of first meeting Daniel. After making contact through e-Harmony, they decided to meet up for drinks at Barcode one night after work. Their conversation flowed so easily that “just drinks” soon turned to dinner, surprising them both. Daniel was smitten with how Sarah was more curious about getting to know him than trying to market herself as a great catch, and soon both were hooked.

They’d dated three years when 50 of Sarah’s family and friends participated in an Amazing Race-inspired scavenger hunt throughout the city. Each clue led Sarah to a new destination, until the last note brought her to her final destination: a ballroom at the Mayflower Hotel. There she found Daniel waiting for her on one knee to propose. Afterwards, they met the rest of the race participants for a surprise engagement party at the location of their first date, Barcode.

When it came to their engagement session, the goal was to show their love for travel, for their city, and for each other, so they chose Ronald Reagan National Airport and Gravelly Point Park as the locations for their portraits. Joined by Lisa Boggs of Lisa Boggs Photography, the pair posed under the arched ceilings inside the airport, on the Metro platform, and beneath a plane taking off in the night sky overhead. Sarah and Daniel later wed in June 2016 at the Hilton Alexandria.
