Photos From Washingtonian’s Taste of Georgetown

Foodies from near and far braved the rain to experience the 23rd annual Taste of Georgetown on Saturday, October 1st. Thousands of attendees enjoyed an eclectic offering of delicious dishes from over 30 of the neighborhood’s best restaurants. While strolling the historic streets, guests also shopped at several local retailers and sipped on beers from Georgetown local Pizzeria Paradiso and wine from Great Frogs Winery.

DC-bred 90’s cover band, White Ford Bronco, kept guests of all ages dancing and singing along throughout the day with their high-energy performance. For additional entertainment, attendees enjoyed lawn games and a Kid’s Corner with face painting and balloon animals.

Guests gathered around the stage to cheer on participants at the annual eating contest, which was emceed by “The Tommy Show”‘s Tommy McFLY, Kelly Collis, and Jen Richer. The three contests included a giant macaron from Olivia Macaron, a powdered doughnut on a string from District Doughnut, and a giant bowl of spaghetti from Ristorante Piccolo.

At the end of the event, Washingtonian food critics Anna Spiegel and Jessica Sidman announced award winners. Rí Rá Irish Pub took home the award for “Best Catch of the Sea”. District Doughnut walked away with the award for “Best Dessert”. The Sovereign won the award for “Carnivore Champion Dish”. 1789 Restaurant was awarded the “Best in Show’ title.

Washingtonian partnered with the Georgetown Business Improvement District to put on the event which benefits the Georgetown Ministry Center‘s services supporting the homeless.
